info on shaved door handles

i've did alot. i actually suggest going to a junk yard and getting the door lock actuator out of something like a explorer. just make sure there is no slack in the line going from the actuator/solenoid to your door latch and you should be good to go.
they are a simple 2 wire setup, one is ground, the other run to a switch out side truck(dont forget to hide it) then to the battery.
if you want the remote open kind, you can rob the hole assembly from the exploder.
or you can get a autoloc kit. either way you go i wouldnt use the solenoids that come with the autoloc kit, they suck bad, i've burnt up a bunch.
i've had many conversations with the autoloc techs, and they are not ment to be used often, maybe twice a week or so(that came from autoloc lol)
heres the direct link to autoloc

bear claw... i dont have any pics that i can think of on this cpu, but i can take some next time i have my access panel off. its very simple.
the easiest thing to do is just run the actuator to an outside switch.
unless you want the cool factor of the key fob lol.
i say to use the explorer just from personal experience, i've tried many different actuators from different makes and models, but the explorers seem to be very strong, along with towncars and crowns. and try to find the newest model in the junk yard, just to assure you they are still good. those things are pretty hard to burn up anyway.

I'm hoping to get time to get to the junkyard this weekend to get a pull from an explorer and see what happens..

Hellbilly, while you are stripping the actuators out of the doors at the salvage yard, grab the latches as well. Late model latches, the kind that have a round post on the door pillar to latch on to, are the same as bear claws and a lot cheaper as well as being set up for the solenoids.
Take all the mounts, linkages, nutplates and even the power window mechanisms if you want and make notes as to how everything mounts with measurements. I'd even grab the flexible conduit for the wires and the interior lock switches with as much wire attached as you can.

Well I've done the junk yard part system before so I just got the style im used to, mid 90's trunk releases from ford cars. Got 4 of them for $20 to have some spares. Now time to get to work, think I'll mount the button under the bed rail and a manual cable release for the driver's door in the front fender well and then go with a battery disconnect under the hood for a little security.
