Code P1211 during trip

Just got back from trip to Arkansas, I ended up putting over 1100 miles on the truck this weekend, long story on the mileage. Was cruising back at about 78 mph pulling trailer on pretty flat terrain and got a SES light. I waited until I found a good spot to pull over as I needed to transfer fuel from bed tank as I was getting low. Could this code be caused by air being suck from low tank? I was getting down to the last 1/8 of tank and when I came to a stop on a slight grade the engine started "cackling" so I shut her down while I transferred fuel. I pulled this code (P1211) in the mean time and cleared it. Didn't have any other codes or any more lights the rest of the trip.

Yes, low fuel pressure can certainly cause that code.

"Could" be a sign that your tank pickup needs attention soon!

Just another thought, especially if you find crap in your fuel tank. F_250 (Pete) found an internal screen in the inside of our fuel pumps which, if clogged, would result in low fuel pressure.

(I am planning on angle grinding cutting mine open to look at it...)

P1211 is related to ICP. It indicates it was above or below desired. This could come from a number of things.

Are you tuned? How many miles on the HPOP and injectors?

I have owned this truck since last summer, it is a 2001 with about 82000 miles. I assume that everything is original on the truck and hasn't been messed with, visual pretty much confirms it since it is a clean truck that looks to have been taken care of. It came with a Superchips 1705 Micro Tuner with it's "tow Safe" installed. I do believe that the fuel tank hasn't been modified so I was thinking it may have been sucking air as I was down to about 1/8 of a tank which is the lowest I have had it since I have owned it. I plan to do the mods with the pickup tube and vent / fill tubes.

Okay. Try removing the Superchip to see if you are able to throw the code again.

I doubt this issue is going to be related to the fuel side. It normally throws this code under hard throttle and ICP is not able to keep up with what is commanded. You can confirm this by connecting a scan tool to the truck and monitoring ICP and IPR duty cycle.

Make sure you clear the trouble codes prior to testing. The 1211 might still be in memory.

Good point. Should have been more clear when I said that.
