HELP! AOD Issues! 1990 F-150
Hey all,
So I am at my wits end here. I bought this truck in hopes of a good first truck but that's starting to not be the case. When I got the truck the AOD "fix" the previous owner did was nothing short of amazing. (Seen below).
I looked at the fluid when I fixed this, and it seems fine, no metal flakes and just looks like worn ATF fluid.
Before hand, when I went to test drive it, it would not go into over drive, even at highway speeds. Then at some points it would not want to downshift. I figured that the TV cable was messed up, so I was going to fix that after I cleaned sludge from the motor. I cleaned the sludge and set the TV cable correctly, and now the stupid thing won't shift out of 1st. I tried the two drive modes (OD and D) to see if anything would happen and nothing. It grabs reverse, park, and neutral fine, but will not shift past 1st. I haven't driven it very far, maybe 1/2 a mile with the 1st gear stubbornness. Beforehand, I drove it around 8 miles to figure out the OD and downshift issue.
I also had concerns about this bracket piece as it looks out of place. I can't find any real info on AOD "brackets". The TV cable seems to not have enough slack to properly seat it and I think this is a cause. The spring for the adjuster is fully compressed to get it where its not taunt.
Missing bolt is from me, I took it out.
Am I doing something completely wrong, or is the transmission done for?

The first picture is of the TV cable arm where it connects to the transmission. It supposed to be bolted to and move a shaft that works the Throttle Pressure for the transmission, by the looks of it the nut that holds the arm on the shaft was probably over tightened and broke the shaft. So now there is no way to reconnect this arm and without Throttle Pressure this transmission will not work right and will damage the transmission quickly.
Your only hope is to replace this shaft, AOD parts are getting hard to find especially linkage parts.
