Bassani Headers and Y pipe for 86-95 F150 / Bronco?
Ok, well after recently picking up a 1990 F150 4x4 with a 302 in it and wanting to find a set of equal length headers - I have finally made a purchase.
All of my online searching didn't turn up much other than the unequal length Ford Racing etc. or the Mac Performance equal length which I had heard negative things on the quality from some mustang guys.
Well, Bassani listed a header and Y pipe for this truck but had no picture and very limited info on these parts on their website. After several calls and lots of shopping around I purchased them and wanted to share the info on them with others so if you are looking for headers or a Y pipe you will know what these parts are all about.
The headers are 1 1/2" 14ga tubing. 3" collector. Solid 3/8" Flange. They are available in chrome or ceramic. I was told by one vendor that the chrome is no longer going to be available but did not verify that. They come complete with new header bolts, gaskets and hardware for bolting to the y pipe. I purchased the ceramic coated part #50150 C
Bronco lists a different part # but is available as well.
The y pip is only available in stainless now and can be had with or without a Metallic High Flow Cat. It does not have an EO # and is not legal in california with the current law but oh well. This is the only Y pipe I found that has larger tubing than an oem replacement type. This one has 2 1/4" coming our of the header into a 3" at the Y. It has a bung for the O2 sensor and also a fitting for the air injection. Also includes clamps and hardware.
If you want to bolt this Y pipe to stock manifolds you will need part #150500 adapter rings.
The Stainless Y pipe pictured is part #501503
As for a source, Bassani will only sell direct at MSRP. I was referred to Fairway Sport (714) 579-3893 and received the best service one could ask for. I spoke with John who was willing to wheel and deal and beat a price I had received elsewhere. I highly recommend them. Parts where in the mail the same day as well!!!
Once I get these installed I will update this with some feedback. I will be mating these up to a Flowmaster Force II Cat Back.
