While searching through things I stumbled apon these Ford Postcards for the 1980 Explorer and the 1981 Explorer. Took awhile to upload these so hope you enjoy them. I have a 1982 Explorer postcard somewhere and the 1984 Explorer brochure somewhere but cannot find them. I can't find my 1981 Explorer Brochure or 1981 F-series brochure either. Might be with the ex... At least I have digital copies of the 1981 stuff.
Yes, my 1981 Explorer came with knitted vinyl and would love to find a 1981 Explorer Plaid nutmeg seat for it sometime.
The 1981 postcard doesn't show the seat fabrics but the 1981 Explorer Brochure does. I'm kind of jealous because the plaid seat of the 1980 Explorer looks more elaborate.
Here is the 1981 Explorer Brochure to compare the seat fabrics to the 1980 Explorer.
Boy those are some neat options, especially the seat fabrics. I've always loved the Explorers. The tu-tone brown/tan '81 looks almost identical to our old '83 Explorer F100, only exception being the difference in the Explorer tape stripe and of course the change in the grille. Way cool, thanks for sharing!!
I thought the 80 was the only year that had FORD on the hood? Cool though. Wish I could find the 85 for my Explorer.
No, 1980-1981 F-series, Bronco (1975-1982 Econoline) had Ford letters on the hood.
The 1980-1981 was the last years of the Ranger / Ranger XLT / Ranger Lariat trim levels as well. The replacement of the Ford Courier in 1982 was called Ranger instead.
The Custom was also dropped for the 1982-1986 years. It was brought back in 1987, later dropped, brought back in 1992, dropped after 1993 and has been missing since then.
