Where's the tailgate? Is it on a highboy frame or lifted? It doesn't look all that bad @ all. what's he asking for it? I would try to get it for around 2800 if there is no real mechanical probs.

truck
The tailgate is mia as far as I know I actually looking to trade the guy a 2002 xr650l for it. I'm going to look at and test drive tommorow hoping it pass emissions. It looks solid from tell it seems be a high boy not sure how to tell though there are lift blocks in the back about 4 inchs but nothing in the front. So does this make it a highboy ?

it's not a camper special either. sorry.
where your tool box is on the pass. side would be your spare tire if it were. and the wheel base would be longer.
people seem to think that tool box makes it a CS, which is not the case.
check out the rest of the pics in my gallery if you like. mine is a f350 custom CS 2x4 with a 460.
i gave 900 bucks about a year ago. for what it's worth.

Yeah I'm not to worried if it is a camper special or anything else. I'm just looking for a clean truck for a good price that will make a half decent driver once in awhile a good resto hot rod diesel conversion project eventually. No it won't be a cummins I seriously thinking of doing a dmax allision swap I have put a crap ton of miles on a work truck that pulled a triple axle goosneck that made me a beliver. I know sacreliege but it's no fun being like everybody else around.

No such thing as a 1979 "super" camper special. Same thing for 1977. from 73-76 "super" indicated F350. After 76 "super" was dropped from the name and it just became "Camper Special"
Can't speak with authority for your 77, but in 1979 If it was a regular cab Camper Special, it came with 140" WB and D70 rear with 4.10 gearing.

Your post as quoted above leads me to believe you think the Camper Special was only offered on a 140" wheelbase truck.
Back to the truck at hand, you can see the Camper Special emblem on the front fender.
I would be looking hard at the floorboards and door jambs for rust issues. Max I would go is around 2500 for the truck.

In 79 and probably 77 and 78 you could get the Camper Special package on any model F-250 or F-350, 2 or 4wd truck except a cab and chassis model.

I can see the emblems on his, now that you point it out.
eeeh .. learn something every day.
i agree, the truck is pretty nice. Around here, it's probably a $1500 truck to the average guy, only a collector looking for that type of truck in particular would pay $2000 or more.
we're all kinda poor around here ..... we don't make as much on average per profession, so our prices on stuff like this are quite a bit lower than the rest of the country.

Trucks looks to be in good shape, just get underneath and look around with a flash light. You'll see the trouble spots if there is any. Even though there is rust above the rear wheel wells, it isn't that big of spot, so the truck must have been taken care of somewhat. The truck should have a 351 or 400 if it's a 79, but someone could have swapped in a 460. If there is a 460 in it, be on the lookout for hack jobs. Make sure the motor mounts look good and no one cut the frame to fit headers or manifolds. 460s didn't come out in 4x4 trucks until the 80s, but they are popular swaps in these trucks. Get in drive it and make sure the truck shifts properly and the motor sounds good. I agree, the $2500 mark is probably the highest I'd go, maybe even cheaper. But, it all depends on your local market. Nice looking truck.
