Tire wear pattern on FX4 Supercrew 4X4
I just bought a second hand F150 Supercrew 4x4. I want to move the tires around to equalize the wear on them (I dont think the previous owner paid that much attention to tire rotation). My question is on this vehilce do the fronts tend to wear faster than the rears or vice versa. I will put the tires with the most tread left on the high wear side of the truck. Thanks in advance

Fronts definitely wear much faster on any vehicle I am aware of. Rotate them either front to back or cross them over front to back, then next time a straight front to back switch. I use Les Schwab here in the northwest for my tires and regular rotations. If you have a trusted local tire shop, use them and their recomendations/service. My .02. Jim

I suspect my fronts will wear faster as I am a bit of a pansy on the throttle (to try to get the MPG numbers up).
My careful right foot should limit wheelspin and hard acceleration forces on the tires. With this in mind I think I am putting the 2 tires with the most tread on the front. Does this make sense to everyone ?

Yep. If you drive it like you stole it, your rears will wear out faster. I believe most of us drive very conservatively such as Edward and myself. The most tire wear with conservative driving is on the outside of your front tires from cornering forces from my experience.
Edward: You are right on. Put the ones with the most wear on the front and watch the wear over the next 5K miles or so. Rotate when you get them all showing about the same wear. How do you like your truck? Just got a second hand cream puff 2004 Lariat S/C 4x4, myself, and love it. Jim

I was actually talking about tire wear prior to my Supercharger. I used to care about my MPG's alot more...so I drove with MPG's in mind.
It's just the nature of the beast with a truck. Little wieght on the rear axle = wheel spin on bad roads and on acceleration.
You could always do the 2 at a time replacement plan. Just leave the baldest tires out back. When they need replacement, put the new ones on front, and rotate the olders to the back
