oil sending unit

were is the oil sending unit on a 59 292 f100? some one told me it was at the back of the engine. im leaking oil between my flyweel and back of my engine if the oil sending unit is bad could it be leaking there

Oil sending unit.

Left (drivers) side of the block behind and slightly above the oil filter.

If it's loose, it could be leaking and giving false readings!

Sold 1000's of those puppies, they leak like sieves, and not just from the threads.

There are two different ones. With an oil gauge, it takes a different one than with a oil warning (idiot) light.

Look at the top and back side of the engine the best you can, make sure the oil isn't running down from the top.
If it's not ontop of the tranny or coming down from the sides, then your oil pan or rear main are what's leaking.

well it only leaks every so often and only when its running. the gage has never worked
