Where to have my torque wrench calibrated?

Hey guys,

Would anyone know where I could have my 1/2" drive torque wrench calibrated around here (Manitoba?) I was thinking about asking the local engine shop, because of course they will be using them. I'm not sure who else to ask.

Thanks

Other than the local engine shop you could also ask the Snap On or Mac Tool dealer.

Well like anything, they do get out of tune. Its a tool that is supposed to be precise too, so thats why the calibration is important

They can go out of calibration quickly if you drop them. My Mac tools dealer had a tool on his truck to check how accurate you torque wrench is.

If the wrench is a "clicker type" they need to be calibrated. In the aviation world mine has to be done each year. we send them to Bristow Instruments i think in Calgary, but our overhaul shop bought the equipment this past summer to them inhouse.........not set up yet.
Try Mac or Snap On, or check the yellow pages for instrument calibration, or call Aero Recip in Winnipeg, they overhaul aviation engines....they may have their own inhouse.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm probably going to talk to the local snap-on guy, it's going to be the easiest option right now.

torque wrench calibration

Don't ever send your torque wrenches to ANGLE REPAIR IN BECKLEY W.V.. I sent my Snap On 600 ft/lb there for repair and received it back with the extension handle just floppin around in the box and the hold down tangs bent over. They also calibrated it so the needle was not in line with the handle and socket head(90 degrees off). Their shipping department just stuck the wrench and metal container into a cardboard box and shipped it off without any protection. I called and complained and had to send it back with precise directions about the position of the needle and that I wanted wrench certified. When I received it back, three weeks later, the needle was STILL 90 degrees off, but had a cert. When I complained about the condition of the hold down tangs the receptionist gave me a ration of **** about "What do you want us to do about it","Our employees would never do that". SO, word to the wise, if you need your torque wrench calibrated, get it done by a certified repair house, certified by the manufacturer and contact the manufacturer to be certain they are certified. ANGLE REPAIR=PAIN IN THE ***.
