Which Screw to get?

Ok you guys have narrowed it down for me as far as years (06-08 4x4) Now how about some help with which model.

It needs to have; 5.4, 3.73's, leather, Tow package

FX4?
Lariat?
Not sure of the differences of these two packages.
I know you can get a XLT with the Luxury package but i doubt i can find one.

If i'm missing something please feel free to chime in.

Budget is no more than 20k.

The FX4 will have a stronger shock package then the others. But with your selection its basically the Lariet or FX4. You might want to look for larger gears if you plan on putting larger tires on it. See if you can find one with 4:56s.

I doubt you'll find an 08 Lariat 4X4 for 20k, but best of luck to you!! I'm sure some dealership has a teaser truck (Lariat) listed for your price though.

I know you can easily find an 06 for under $20k

most likely you can swing a 07 for that also with some negatiating.

no go for the 08

I personally vote for the FX4 Luxury. It won't have the Lariat pricetag...but it will have all the goodies that a Lariat has (minus trip computer)...and you get the best options in the powertrain without having to search them out

I have found some pretty good deals on 06-07 in that price range.Unfortunatly nothing close to home.
I did find an 07KR at a local repo yard but it has 65k miles. Might put in a lowball bid, but that kind of mileage on an 07 scares me a little.

Best info i can find on Axle ratios show only 3.55,3.73,4.11 available on 06's. Were 4.56 available?

Is the axle ratio written on the tag in the door jam? Or what code is for 3.73?

I agree with most 08's being out of that price range.

Is the FX4 a less expensive option than a Lariat?

Looking at specs for the 2008 F-150, 4.56s were not available. 4.10s were available in a few configurations (long wheel base), but not in the SuperCrew. 3.73s appear to be the lowest ratio available in most configurations. I just bought a new 2008 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 that has quite a few options. With employee pricing and rebates, it was still $29K. Still not bad for a truck that had a $40K sticker. They were sell demos with miles for about the same price as new, go figure.

FX4 is/can be cheaper than a Lariat. It just depends if it is a normal FX4 or the FX4 Luxury package.

I know when I bought my 07, that my 3 gear choices were 3.55, 3.73. and 4.10.

I chose 3.73 and have no regrets, they seem perfect for most uses.

Its a 2007 F-150 supercrew XLT 4x4, with 6.5 foot box, and 5.4 engine, and 3.73 gears.

In two-tone grey, with a few added options as well.

I love this truck, its been great, and can really tow a load.

Seems that the 4.10's may be specific to the 6.5 wb trucks.

4.10 gears are only available with the Heavy Duty package...and the 8' bed.

They are a package deal and the only way to get the deep gears

but, for those who like Scabs...you are in luck. wish they offered the 4.10 for the Screw
