interior paint

Has anyone had any luck useing the color match paint to recolor a dash. I see lmc has some in the blue and wanted to know how good the match would be and if it is good quality. My dash is tan and I need it blue. I would trade for a blue one if anyone has one. Mine is in good shape not cracks just need it blue.

Some Auto Paint stores can match your interior color exactly.

You would need a auto spray gun and a air supply though.

Find a place that sells SEM products. It's extremely high quality product, and comes in all the factory colors. I've used it on several vehicles and you actually have to try really hard to mess up with it.

Yes, I've painted my dash pad, door panels, and kick panels and they looks like new. It's been a couple of years now and I'll soon touch them up again.

I used some dye I got at autozone.

Most likely you didn't get it clean enough or you used a cheap product.

The key to getting a good application is scrubbing several times (with a scrub brush) with a good detergent and water and then a final wipe off with Acetone to ensure that every trace of oil is off of the part prior to being painted.

I have not tried anything but SEM, and wouldn't use anything else.

You did not say what year your truck is but I've got a Blue Factory Dash Pad that will fit the 81-86 Model Ford Trucks as well as the Bronco.
Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks
Jon

scott,

I just did the same exact paint job you will be attempting.

I purchased a spray can of DUPLICOLOR Vinyl and Cloth paint (#HVP112 Med Blue). I painted the padded dash and both of my "A- PILLAR" covers. It worked and matched great! I bought my paint at Pep Boys.
