P0344 and other code Questions
HOWDY Y'All!
Pretty new to posting on this board, but been doin' a lot of research. Wish I had found this board long ago. Enough kissin' up, for now.
Just got a trade in scanner off the Matco truck and an old OTC multimeter from the pawn shop. Got the multimeter to check the glow plugs and GPR. Will probably need help with the meter later.
With my new scanner I got two codes. P1728, which I know is a trans slip code and will have to deal with later. The other code is P0344 Cam position sensor A bank 1 CKT intermittent. A while back I re-replaced the CPS, life time warranty. But what does the "A bank" part mean?
Thanks

Here's the list of DTC's that I use:
1995/1996 Powertrain Control System Electronics Diagnostic Guide - 1994-1997 Power Stroke FAQ
It makes no mention of an "A bank" and I dont know what it means.

Thanks Jim. Cool pdf. I didn't read that much in college and that could be why its taking me so long to finish!
I've been wondering if the P0344 and P1728 could be related. My thought is if the CPS fails, if only for a fraction of a second, that the PCM may look at the situation and think the rpm's and VSS don't match and then set the P1728 code?

the 340 sets whenthe pcm sees a slight hiccup in the circuit. normally you wont notice it while driving,. a 344 setswith the 340 when you have more than a rotation of fault on the wheel. ford considers a 344 alone to be of no concern and will not warrent a repair unless the two codes are accompanied together. best bet is carry a spare in the glovebox
