The K&N Filter will allow more dust particles into your intake which is not good for the engine. Due to it can score the cylinder walls eventually. Some people have better luck with K&N but as far as the replacement type K&N that definately allows plenty of dust in from the top of the filter housing since it doesn't seat too good.
The 6637 costs about 50 bucks at NAPA and I've read is a Favorable mod.

those dust part. will dust ur turbo too. that would be the first thing to go. the 6637 is also oiled, therefore catches more dirt and such. I believe they flow about the same, think i read that the 6637 flows better but im not too sure.

I can tell you the 6637 filter is much better for performance, when i bought my truck the guy before put a k&n replacement filter on it, it helped. Just yesterday i put the the 6637 filter on and i noticed a difference, takes off a little better, I will let you know how my truck does on mpg after this weekend.

i beleive the k and n has the capability to flow more air but the engine wont use the amount its capable of. the 6637 flows more than enough air for your engine and does 100 times the filtering the k and n does.

I really should have researched this a little more before i went and bought my k&n filter about a month ago. I am probably going to buy a 6637 now and install it on my truck. Thanks for the help

Yea. that air box is just trash.

Put the K&N on a shelf and look at it with a sticky note that says "no!"
Think in your head of louis black saying it as well, will make ya giggle everytime you look at it. =)

It could be oiled, but you can't tell.

They look like they are dry to me though as well.
