the 6.4's get terrible mileage from what i've read anywhere from 9-12mpg's, mainly due to to all the emission crap thats on it, and the regen, that being said they are pretty powerful, and sharp!!! word is international put alot of marbles in that basket b/c of all the fallout out from the 6.0L debacle....

I have a dually long bed. BEST I ever saw was 13 mpg. Normal, around town and trips 12.4 mpg.

Big difference is there is no difference. The 2008 Super Duty is light years ahead of it's predecessors. I had the same KR 2005 loaded and it was almost like something manufactured by someone else. Drive the 2008 and you tell us. I love my truck.

I have a 08 F250 6.4, last tank avg was almost 15. Have gotten as high as 17 on flat highway no loads.

My best way on the mpg is to stay below 2k rpm and very little boost.

Great truck plenty of power when you need it.

I moved our still new '08 F250 6.4 from our house in Seattle suburbs to our place here in the U.S. Virgin Islands. With less than 1,000 miles on it I was able to get around 16 mpg on flat highways. Once I started hitting the big neighborhood hills it fell off to 11-12 mpg. Flash forward to the small and very hilly island where I am now and the truck has 2,500 miles now and gets just about 12 mpg overall. That's with about 95% urban hilly street use and 5% highway. I'm looking forward to getting some miles on this thing to see what I really get for fuel economy but at this rate it's going to take me another 1.5 years to get to 10k miles...

I bought this truck to haul our family boat but it has now turned out to be my daily driver for my 1 mile commute to work (I'd walk if I didn't know I'd smell like a sweaty mule by the time I'd get to the office.)

blacktop06,

I have both an 08 DRW 350 and an 06 DRW 350.

I get about 1 to 1.5 mpg less with my 08 both empty and towing. The ride is great with both however, the 08 has a more solid better handling feel to it.

You will have to go test one in order to see what I mean.

The 08 is an awesome truck. Practically everything is better about it except for the MPG. I average around 3 mpg less than my 6.0 when driving "normal" by my standards. If you are really careful how you drive you can squeeze a few more out of it but that holds true for ANY vehicle so apples to apples I lost 3 mpg. Yeah that sucks, but its a trade off for what you gain with the rest of the truck. The last 6.0 I had spent more time in the shop than my driveway so I can personally live with the mileage (I only drive it 10k/year though).
Only other "problems" you will read about in 6.4 forum surround the emmissions JUNK. This is still experimental in many ways and Ford isnt the only one having issues with cracked DPF's. There was a radiator issue but that appears to be resolved now.

Just drive one and you will feel the difference.
