Welcome to FTE!
Your '83 motor will have a manual bell and clutch. The bell to transmission pattern will match the NP435. Both will be a rectangular pattern called the "butterfly" pattern. Check the diameter of the hole in the bell vs. the diameter of the front bearing retainer on the transmission. Check the input shaft "stick out" on the NP435 vs. the 3 speed. Check the pilot size. Check the spline count on the NP435 vs. the 3 speed. If you match on all, you are good to go on bolting it up. You may need a different pilot bearing or bushing, or a different clutch disc.
Balance will not be part of this as your engine is going to keep the same flywheel. Even with a different clutch, if you have to, it won't change the balance of the engine.
