’89 2.3 Positioning sensor wire harness???

There is a single wire connector that comes out of the Positioning Sensor harness; it is insulated back to the split loom. Inside the loom this particular wire is not insulated and is wrapped around the outside of the wires that run to the sensor. This is then wrapped by an aluminum foil type wrap. My question is, the single un-insulated wire has corroded just inside the split loom. To fix it, can I just solder another piece of un-insulated wire to it, and then recover it with the foil? Of course then reattach the connector.

Thanks,
