stock exhaust rattles on gooseneck hitch supports....

The stock exhaust is hitting the bottom supports to the gooseneck hitch right where it goes up and over the rear axle. The dealer can't do anything because the GN hitch is aftermarket. Anything I can do to stop the rattle which is very annoying? Wrap it with something at that spot?

Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks,
Matt

Some of the after market gooseneck hitches require that you drop the end of the exhaust pipe a couple of inches to clear the hitch.

Maybe whoever installed the hitch wasn't reading directions fully or decided not to put the drop down extension on the rear hanger.

Good luck

I installed a hidden hitch in my friends truck, and it did the same thing. The part they sent to cure the problem didn't fit, so I just quickly made one out of a piece of flat 2" metal. It was over a year ago, and the truck is gone, so I can't give you the exact dimensions. It fits on the hanger right at the exhaust tip. If memory serves me correct, it wants to twist sideways, so you have to make it a tight fit in the hanger.

ok so if I understand this correctly, I need to modify a bracket to lower the rear exhaust hanger. I will have to take a look to see what I can do.

thanks,

my stock exhaust was dropped 1 1/2" by a small piece of flat metal that came with the install kit for my 03. Whoever installed the hitch should put it on for free. It drops the last hanger at the tailpipe about that 1 1/2"
