05 Escape Rear Glass Won't lock ?
Hi Everyone!
I've searched around the forums a bit and haven't seen any threads with my exact problem so I thought I'd post a new thread.
Three months ago I purchased a pre-owned '05 Escape. Just yesterday I realized that when the car is locked, the rear glass remains unlocked (the main part of the liftgate does lock). When I press the lock button on my remote, I hear the main part engage, but nothing from the glass. I'm not sure how long it's been like this as I've never thought to check it (I rarely open just the glass). Has anyone ever enountered a problem like this, or know how to fix it? I am thinking it might have somehtign to do with the auto lock wiring, and unfortunately there is no keyhole for me to lock it manually. I just want it locked, and don't really care if it has to stay that way!
Thanks in advance,
Cait

Luckily for you guys, I have the same problem and solved it tonight. Just did the whole write-up over at GreenHybrid. Here's the thread:
Service Manual anyone? I need help with rear hatch lock - GreenHybrid - Hybrid Cars
Its literally about a 5 minute repair and requires a philips screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.
Good luck!

Ford ESCAPE Liftgate Lock Actuator FIX video
My 2001 escape xlt liftgate locking mechanism has been screwy for years. Finally fixed myself for $65 with a part I got off of ebay.
Here is the you tube video I made to help explain how to fix it.
This is for the LOCKING actuator only...not the latch itself.
I do hope that it helps some folks out there.

I just fixed this today in under five minutes using the info provided by Tim K. The rear hatch locked fine but the glass hatch was not locking; sure enough it was the locking green tab had slipped a bit so I unlocked it, adjusted it by 1/4" and locked it back down. The rear glass hatch now locks just fine using the FOB or manual locks from either from door switch.
