I found a nice "NEW" '08 F250 CC 4x4 V10 Lariat with most options that I am interested in, but does not have the tailgate step and handle.

Is it possible to retro-fit a step and handle into the existing tailgate? Or would I have to purchase a complete tailgate with the step and handle separately?

Any info would be GREAT...and truly appreciated!

I have the step on mine. Don't see any way that a retro fit would work with an existing tailgate. If you could do it, probably cost you more than buying a new gate with the step. Just my opinion of course.

 

+1...I have seen a bunch of take-off tailgates listed on both eBay as well as Craigslist.

I also recommend visiting one of those shops that install lift gates and see if they have a take-off for you.

 

Also agree. Not only does the step have internal parts but the structure is different as well for the step to slide out. If you find a large enough upfitter company you may even find the color you want.
