Radiator Hose Clamp

My aunt has an 06 F-150 Screw with a 5.4L and we were camping and they were towing there 6000 lbs trailer up the hwy 20, the steepest pass in Washington and then all of the sudden steam stared pouring out, the reduced engine power light came on and check engine light. Get out and sure enough the hose clamp broke, causing them to lose about half the coolant. Luckily we had zip ties in the trailer zip tied it back on the radiator and filled the degas bottle with water and went on until we found a gas station with hose clamps and replaced it. A whole $.99 later we were good to go. It's going for a coolant flush tommarrow. So has anyone else had the same problem?

Clamps fail from time to time, but you may want to replace the hose too. Pressure applied by clamps isn't even around the hose and the difference between the factory clamp and your new 99 center may be just enough to offer a weak point that could cause a hose to go.

For many yrs I have tweaked the clamps tighter on anything I've driven. Especially with new ones, there's always another 1/4 turn on the clamp after its been on the road awhile.
