pulled the truck for the first time
pulled my truck last thursday at the rochester IN truck and tractor pull. no weights of any kind, only mods are the ones in my sig. (I think)
first tried it in 3rd 4low as per some advice from a few people. well that smoked the con-O southbend clutch pretty good but hardly moved the sled so they let me back up and tried it in 2nd 4low and held it to the floor out to 250 feet. made it within about 10-15 feet of 90% of the trucks and I was one of two without weights and one of three without ladderbars or anything like that. beat a few 24v dodges and even two 06' chebbys..
so on the list before my next pull, in order is-ladderbars and spring blocks, FE southbend clutch (a 450$ upgrade) front suitcase weights, 200HP sticks. I had power to spare but the clutch could hardly hold it and I ran out of traction way before I ran out of power. all in all, with nothing broken and a pull of 250 with a truck that cost WAY less then 99.9% of the trucks there I am pretty darn happy. there was around 30 or so trucks, I was one of three Fords. I nbs 7.3 and a 6.0 I beat the 6.0 by a few feet. or so I was told.

Tim, give Dan Vallance a call at Valair clutch and tell him Cody from Death Row Diesel sent you. He'll hook you up with an awsome clutch and half the price of a SB. But he doesn't have any Double Disks for the fords yet. Anyway check out www.valairinc dot com and see what you think. If you like what you see, give Dan a call and tell him I sent you and he'll take some off the price for you. Good luck.

are those clutches that good? it's only going to cost me $450 to upgrade to a con OFE clutch from southbend clutch, good to 450 HP 900ft lbs
a buddy of my was related to the owner so he is getting me a pretty good deal..
though I'm not sure if even that good of a clutch could stand me launching under boost with 36" tires? any idea?
it's also a plus that I live not 30 minutes from the southbend clutch factory...
