Tranny Help, Problems with new tranny

I just got done putting my new tranny in, when i try to engage in a gear it lags about 3-4 seconds to engage and my engine winds out so i cannot get up to speed, do you have any ideas on what the problem may be. Its really discouraging putting so much time into something for it not to work.

Pull the pan and check to see if the filter is seated. If it isn't, it will suck air. If it won't seat check for two filter seals. Sometimes a new filter is installed without removing the old seal first.
