Chrome Package Wheels

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I have an 07 XLT with the chrome package and my chrome wheels have been coated in the thick layer of brake dust that these trucks like to leave behind for a few weeks. I've been slacking and not wiping them down weekly and when I cleaned them today, a lot of brake dust was still caked on to the chrome. It's almost like it is bonded to the chrome. Is there a product that anyone can recommend to remove the brake dust and is safe for this type of chrome wheel. It almost feels like the wheel is plastic with a chrome plating of some sort. I don't want to spray something on there that will ruin the wheel. I would typically use something like bleach white, but I think that there was warning about using it on chrome on the bottle. I called a dealership and the service advisor told me to use nothing but polmolive dish detergent and warm water to clean them so they don't get ruined. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

look for simoniz Vista wheel cleaner, so far its been th best I have found, and if you really need to get them clean you will have to scrub them a little bit with a soft brush

I had the exact same problems with mine, I got tired of rubbing so hard it felt like my arm was gonna fall off....and then 3 days later it never looked like you cleaned them. I put ceramic pads on mine, barely have any dust at all now and I personally can't tell a difference stopping wise between them and the original ones. I know it sucks to sink money into pads when the Ford ones are still good, but I wanted a permanent fix to the problem so I forked out the $$ for new pads.
