'05 Expy disable alarm motion sensor?

I've got an '05 Expy Eddie Bauer. Factory alarm. The alarm is going off all the time in the parking garage I'm in now, due to shaking, loud cars passing it, etc.

Can I disable the motion sensor portion of the alarm?

Thanks,
TX

I didn't even know Ford had offered a factory alarm that could be set for motion detection. Are you sure it was not an aftermarket system that the dealer had installed and they overcharged for? You may want to try going to a forum dealing more with electronics related subjects.
I know I had purchased an F-150 CC that had what I thought was a factory alarm installed, it turned out that the dealer had this alarm system installed in their entire inventory. The plan was that at the close of the deal the F&I manager was to add the price onto the bottom line, but forgot to do so. I started having a problem with the system and had it in the shop for a no-start issue 3 times. Turns out the problem was due to the alarm system. Ford said that their warranty would not cover the repair and tow cost for an aftermartket alarm system. I of course didn't know anything about the alarm since no one had ever mentioned to me it was an aftermarket system...I thought it was a Ford issue. Ended up with the selling dealer sending out a tech to the dealer the truck was at for service, repaired the alarm system, which I then got for free, and the dealer had to reimburse Ford for all the tow cost and shop labor it caused.

Good question. The dealer had this particular alarm installed on most (if not all) of their stock on the lot. I'm sure it's an aftermarket unit but I don't know the brand. It was about $300 on the sticker as an option (so definitely overpriced), but it was already installed and easier to leave in than remove and save $300.

So I guess it's back to the dealer or to an auto electronics (like Car Toys, etc) to see if the motion sensor can be disabled. I may just have them yank it and start over with something like a Viper. I've already had Car Toys put in the remote start portion of the Viper (that was supposed to interface with the "factory Ford alarm" but really didn't..I still have to disable the alarm first with the factory Ford key fob and then push the Viper remote start fob.).

Thanks,
TX

OK, now I'm curious. What dealership did you purchase your truck from?

I would bet my left nut it's a Karr alarm. Most dealers use this brand. Look under the dash near the steering column for a small module. Once you get the model number, you can search for the manual.

Tomball Ford. They're a pretty big dealer here on the northwest side of Houston.

look under the dash for a small module, they have sensitivity dials on them to fine tune the alarm, its a simple case of turning the dial with a flat blade screw driver... obviously thats betting on you finding the module! haha...

Most in the UK are fitted behind the main dash where the glove box is or near to the internal fuse box

Yeah, I found the module under the dash, left of the steering column. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any brand or model identifying marks on it, nor can I find a sensitivity dial. All of that may well be on the back side of the unit. It's all zip-tied in place so I'll need to get under their and cut it loose to get a better look at it.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

You may have found the 'immobilizer' module, so when you are next under give it a good once over and check how many wires are going into it. You should have things like 'glass smash sensor, doors, interior sonics etc' so there will e one wire for each of these... normally they are small clip in connectors like phone cords, if its an all enclosed box then it may either be a cheap one, or you have simply found the immobilizer / relay box.

Good luck!

Many of the modern alarms adjust sensitivity via the remote or putting the key in the ignition and or valet switch.
