Sensors

2013 Expy EL KR
I have intermittent alarms on my front and rear bumper sensors. The sensors check out fine. Apparently there is a module somewhere that controls this. Can someone tell me where this module is located?

I only have the service manual for the '11 (with rear parking sensor only). For my truck it lists the following for the PAM (Parking Aid Module):
  1. Remove the LH quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05 .
  1. If replacing the parking aid speaker only, proceed as follows:
    • Disconnect the parking aid speaker electrical connector.
    • Disengage the parking aid speaker clips.
    • Remove the parking aid speaker.
  1. If replacing the PAM , proceed as follows:
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Remove the PAM bracket screw.
    • Remove the PAM .
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
The section on actually removing that panel is multi-faceted and looks like a real pain in the ****.

Thanks
I have two questions regarding terminology. What is the left hand quarter panel, and what is the Pam?

Pam would be Parking aid module. You can also disable in your dash setup to stop the alarms in the meantime.

I would assume LHQP would be the driver side lower kick panel.

Yeah, I checked the kick panel, nothing there. Anyone else know where this module might be located?

LHQP is left hand quarter panel. It is the driver side rear in the cargo area.

Ok , thanks. I know the panel probably snaps in place. Are there any tricks or special tools I need to remove the panel without breaking tabs or something?

All of the trim in the Expedition is layered like an onion so there's going to be several pieces you will need to remove first in order to get the LHQP removed. The only special tools I would have handy are a set of plastic trim removal tools like this one. Harbor Freight used to sell a set also (and probably still does) for about $5.

Ok, I successfully replaced the module. Thought I'd give a few tips fo future reference. The module itself is in fact located towards the front of the rear quarter panel trim on the drivers side. It is helpful if you carefully remove the cup holder, thus you can at least see the module. You must first remove the upper C pillar trim piece. Now you can pull the quarter panel back by the C pillar enough to access the module. It is not necessary to completely remove the quarter panel, just pull it back 2-3 inches so you can remove the module. Took me about 2 hours to complete. Now I could probably do it in about 30 minutes.
Anyway, thanks everyone for the help.
