My truck seems louder (engine noise) than others

I've driven a few other OBS PSD's lately and instantly I notice how they seem quite a bit quieter than mine as far as engine noise. It's definately not a performance issue as mine even feels like it runs stronger, just louder. I haven't come across one exactly like mine as far as year, tranny, etc. The difference in noise is almost like a 24v Cummins compared to a 12v. Anybody else noticed this also? Maybe it's just the calibration? These other trucks I've driven were all autos; a 95, 96, and 97; all stock including mine.

I'm in the same boat as you...my 94.5 F350 is pretty damn noisy compared to the few others I have been around. My neighbor has '99 F250 and that is the first thing he noticed about my truck when I brought it home. I don't use mine too much, plus I'm going to be putting a nice stereo system in it so I'm not too concerned. But perhaps some insulated shielding on the bottom of the firewall and/or tranny tunnel is the difference

I may try the 2-stroke oil trick in the tanks to see if that helps as that appears to be the big benefit.

I have vinyl floors and I love it but I need to quiet it down some? I wonder if I could pull it up and then put carpet down first and then put the vinyl down. I am just trying to get noise reduction and keep the vinyl on the mat?

If you are comparing a 99 and up to our trucks or even a California emissions truck to a federal truck the 99 and up and cali truck will be louder. Its due to the split shot injectors.

To check for aireated oil run the truck at 3K for a while then pull the dipstick to look for air bubbles. I think Ford tells you to run 3K for either 1 minute or 3 minutes I can't remember which then check for bubbles on the dipstick.

put a brick on the go pedal and come back in 5 minutes, if its aerated you will know. 1 minute wont cut it. ford calls for 3 minutes on the floor.

to check for aerated fuel you just pop the return fuel line and replace it with a piece of clear tube available at most hardware stores or tractor supply. running the truck at idle for 2 or 3 minutes will tell you if the fuel has air in it.

Is aerated oil temporary and a sign of decreased oil sustenance meaning time to change it or is it a permanenet quality to your truck that the oil is aerated by the flow of it?

Crappy oil makes bubbles and any brand of oil can do it if you have bubbles change oil or try a defoamer in the crankcase

yep foaming oil means the additive pack is depleted. Either time or oil change or put some additive in.
