My truck seems louder (engine noise) than others
I've driven a few other OBS PSD's lately and instantly I notice how they seem quite a bit quieter than mine as far as engine noise. It's definately not a performance issue as mine even feels like it runs stronger, just louder. I haven't come across one exactly like mine as far as year, tranny, etc. The difference in noise is almost like a 24v Cummins compared to a 12v. Anybody else noticed this also? Maybe it's just the calibration? These other trucks I've driven were all autos; a 95, 96, and 97; all stock including mine.

I'm in the same boat as you...my 94.5 F350 is pretty damn noisy compared to the few others I have been around. My neighbor has '99 F250 and that is the first thing he noticed about my truck when I brought it home. I don't use mine too much, plus I'm going to be putting a nice stereo system in it so I'm not too concerned. But perhaps some insulated shielding on the bottom of the firewall and/or tranny tunnel is the difference
I may try the 2-stroke oil trick in the tanks to see if that helps as that appears to be the big benefit.

If you are comparing a 99 and up to our trucks or even a California emissions truck to a federal truck the 99 and up and cali truck will be louder. Its due to the split shot injectors.
To check for aireated oil run the truck at 3K for a while then pull the dipstick to look for air bubbles. I think Ford tells you to run 3K for either 1 minute or 3 minutes I can't remember which then check for bubbles on the dipstick.

put a brick on the go pedal and come back in 5 minutes, if its aerated you will know. 1 minute wont cut it. ford calls for 3 minutes on the floor.
to check for aerated fuel you just pop the return fuel line and replace it with a piece of clear tube available at most hardware stores or tractor supply. running the truck at idle for 2 or 3 minutes will tell you if the fuel has air in it.

Singles make alot more noise than splits.
The mech fuel pump split inj psd is super quiet.
