1989 bronco efi smog pump piping

I have an 89 bronco 5.8 efi engine that I'm not sure how to connect the plumbing for emmisions. I'm talking about the hoses from the smog pump (2) where do they go? and I also have (2) metal tubes that are on the pass side of engine by exhaust mannifold, they point towards the smog pump. I'm sure they all hook together some how. Can anybody help me? I have an open nipple next to my cat where I'm sure it all goes to.

thanks!!

thanks 229, that is exactly what I need except my motor is a 5.8 351w and if you look at your diagram there is one pipe coming up towards the smog pump. On my motor there are two pipes coming toward smog pump. I put this motor together and can't figure out the emmisions thanks for the post.

THere were a couple of different plumbing methods for the late 80's early 90's motors for the A.I.R. system. The valves were either all in one or there were two seperate valves that looked really similar. Either way the method of routing depends on state of engine warm up. At start up, the flow from the air pump is back to atmosphere, the canister on the fender is basically a muffler for dumping air back to atmosphere. As the engine warms up, vacuum is applyed to one valve to turn off the bypass and the flow is to the second valve. If vacuum is not applied to this second valve the air flow should flow to the cross over pipes attached to the back of the cylinder heads, once vacuum is applied to this valve the flow should be to the catylic converter. So do you have a picture of the plumbing you have questions about?

FYI, you'll find that Steve83 over at Supermotors.com has a ton of really good information and diagrams for the full size broncos.
