Will Ford get wise??

After reading all the stuff on what people think about the price of diesel and all the new emissions crap on these motors I wonder if Ford will get wise and make this motor get decent MPG's?? They can at least make it better than the 6.4 can't they?? Only time will tell. Those people who want huge amounts of HP and TRQ can go buy it in the aftermarket.

I don't know about that. Since they're talking about offering the 4.4L diesel as an option in the Super Duty for the MPG crowd I think they'' try to make big HP/TQ numbers with the 6.7 so they can claim bragging rights as well as MPG's.

With all the emissions regulations these diesels will never get the mpg's they used to. However, some tuners seem to be getting great mileage out of their 6.4's with a lot of emission "deregulation". Matt at Spartan is claiming 21+ mpg's at 80 mph. I wish my truck would do that. Just means you have to sacrifice warranty for mpg's, but a 7 mpg increase will pay for itself after awhile.

Good news is all the new motors are common rail which is much better than the old HEUI.

Just regear to 3.55's or higher and you'll get better mileage. Besides, anything that requires 350hp to tow, should be towed by something a lot heavier than a SD to stop safely, anyway. Even with TBC's.
