Can I level 2001 F350 by lowering back ?

Hi All,
I am such an anxious, new F350 owner - I am posting and I dont even have the truck yet. Purchased the other day a 2001, std cab, 7.3 diesel, 125,000 mi, auto off EBAY recently. Unfortunately, the truck build date is 08/00 (which supposedly has the infamous "mech diode" in the tranny) - but no tranny work to-date and no signs of trouble yet. Anyhow, the truck slopes forward ... and I want to level it. But, I dont want to be lifting the front. Why cant I lower the back ? I've read ... maybe I can have some sort of thinner spacer block (from F250) swapped in ... would this work ? Any reason why I wouldnt want to do this ?
Thanks in advance, Brian

Yep, you can use a F-250 rear block and u-bolts.

I did it with my 07 F-350.
If you haul heavy loads or tow heavy you'll want to run load-assist air bags to prevent it from sagging with the load.
I love the setup now since it's lower to load heavy stuff in the bed and I just have to air up the bags to keep it slightly higher in the rear end.

Yep. I lowered mine by wearing out my rear springs so they sagged.

Of course I fixed mine by adding the airbags since I don't mind the crooked look.

The F250 blocks should have the desired effect, though as was stated previously, if you load the truck heavy it will look like an airplane trying to take off.

F250 blocks will work fine. Just make sure you have enough threads on your F350 U-bolts because the shorter blocks will make them longer and possibly run out of threads. If so, you will need some F250 U-bolts as well.

I lowered my 2006 F350 srw 4X4 using the f250 rear blocks and also bought the u-bolts from the ford dealer when I ordered the blocks. All the parts came to a little over $100. I did it to level my 5th wheel. Now I have take-off shudder when the trailer is on. The 3000 lb pin weight puts the drive shaft out of true and causes a shudder. I am going to add air bags to correct that problem.

I think we should just swap bolts and blocks. I will take your 350's and you can have my 250's.

Is the carrier bearing shimmed on the 350's? If so, you should be able to remove about 1/8 to 1/4" of shim and get rid of the shudder issue.
