I am working on a 1964 F250, mostly rust free with the exception of the bed. The truck has the styleside steel bed and it is rusted through where the bottom bed panel meets the front panel. In some places there is as much as 2 inches of the bottom panel rusted away. The rest of the bed appears to be solid.
I am looking for suggestions or ideas for economic repair options or sources for steel panels designed for this type of repair. If you have completed a similar repair please share your experience.
Dan, I've been struggling w/the same question for a while now but have not found repair panels for the truck bed. My '64 has similar areas of rust as yours and have not yet repaired it. I read a post some time ago that one of the guys on this forum was looking into asking a manufacturer for custom making some replacement panel. Others have suggested looking for a donor truck and cutting out panels as needed. I've thought of buying repair bed panel for other years and see if it will work but after looking at different catalogs and web sites, don't think they will work.
I don't think there is a single truck out there, from that era, that doesn't have rust in that location. The area up front was easy to fill with debris under the high ribs and kept water from draining through and out. Mine has an issue at the front drivers corner. The rest was pretty much ok and I cleaned it all out and coated it heavily with Eastwoods Rust Converter top and bottom. Still there are those two small holes that need to be replaced with something...
I bought the repair panels from LMC and I sent them back. IMO they were JUNK. They looked nothing like the actual bed.
My bed is rusty and I've decided to buy an 8 foot bed from anything I can find at a local junkyard and make it work. A local place estimated $200-300 for an 8 foot bed.
To just repair an edge IMO you should just buy some steel from a local shop and weld it up!

Hey, better late than never, Welcome to FTE. It's a good point, in the future I will have to make note in bookmark field who the author is. Ran a search under 'bed restoration, or bed repair' and came up with CustomCab4x4 as the member who posted pic's under 'rust repair for 64 F250'. Will try and locate member who posted the other, with any luck may look familiar to another member, better yet, may get lucky and the member who posted the pic's will respond.
Good news! I found to good beds no rust in the front. I'm going to have them sand blasted and sealed and painted. Wimbledon white was the original color. Also considering a spray in liner. Any suggestions on product. Also I have two beds with rust in the front corner if there is any interest.
I have the same exact problem with my '66 F250 and have been mulling over what to do. I don't have a lot of money to do the repair or the facilities. I also don't want to screw up the truck with a half *** repair. Other than the rust at the front part of the bed (where the vertical panel behind the cab connects with the bed) the bed is really solid.
When this started to happen in my truck, many years ago, dad drilled a hole at the front end of each trough. At the far edges ahead of the wheel arches there is come metal missing however. I now park my truck with the front end a couple of inches high to aid in draining the bed and the rain gutters. Eventually I'll get to that area...
