WALJON re FPR Shim

Your perfectly symmetrical and scientifically lubricated Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) Shim is in the mail.

Rog, got mine done today. Just went with ball bearing from Ace hardware .. just could not do the 1500 bb thing at the gun store though. Long story short purchased 3/16 ball bearing and it was to big to fit so had to go back to hardware store and purchase 5/32 ball bearing. Total cost 0.13 plus about 4 dollars in fuel. Should of just got the 1500 bb's for $2.95 and been done with it.

My wife say's I cheap .. I tell here I'm thrifty, wonder who's right.

I'll repost this here from another thread I had it in

BEFORE YOU START check the pressure at the valve using a dial gauge. Should be no higher than 75 after shim.
This is how i did the FPR shim, First locate the FPR
1) remove bolt with a 19mm wrench
2) using small needle nosed pliers, carefully pull the spring out
3) put a small dab of grease on the end of the spring
4) place the BB in the grease carefully so it holds in place
5) Carefully, place the spring BB first back into the regulator, may want to have a buddy watch from the Driver's side fender to make sure that it goes in ok and the BB doesn't fall off. It's hard to see while your putting the spring back in.
6) put the bolt back on the end and tighten, but don't go crazy, just snug it up.

I'm sure someone will give me a hard time for using grease, or not taking the whole thing apart, but this way took literally 2 min to do... so worked for me

It will get the fuel pressure back in check. The spring wears out over time. BE SURE TO CHECK IT NOW FIRST! without the BB. This is critical. You don't want to much pressure, wear out the furl pump quick. Shim will give a little smoother idle, maybe MPG or 2

The shim has a life time warranty against out of roundness but should it become inoperable due to lack of lubrication it must be returned along with $20.00 S&H

Warranty does not include fumbling fingers and dropping it into the;
"Valley of Flaming Death"

I hope this will increase your pressure and you will forever be able to hold your gas, er fuel.

I've lost more things that I can count down there! Replacing the fuel pump found 3 sockets from Previous owner, lots of leaves and pine needles. Good and clean now though

Robb:
Shortly after I bought my truck I had to change the fuel pump and amoung other things I foung what looked like a mouse nest (Without mouses of coarse) but I did find a dandy ball point pen that no longer worked.

The first time into the vally of flaming death is really an experence.
