I just calculated mt mpg at 14.3 the truck is an 07 screw 4x4 5.4 3.55gears mostly hwgh miles and I kept it under 70 all the time. Does that sound about right? Ohh btw the truck only has 9k mi on it maybe break in? Anything really help intake chip whatever?

 

No, you should be broken in by now. I would say your about right. You might get up to 17 on a good day but not consistently. I am right at 15 or so combined city and highway and I have a 2wd 4.6.

 

That sounds really low....I have a 5.4 with 3.73's and get about 17.4-18.1 on the highway and that is at 65-70 mph with the rpm's at about 2,000 or a little below.

 

The Supercrew is 500+ lbs heavier than then Supercab so its not a valid comparison. Check the tire inflation, especially now with colder weather (every 10 degrees can deflate the tire by up to 1psi) --- good chance mileage is being lost to that, and the odometer error due to this only makes the calculation worse.

 

I've only got 1500 miles on my 08 scab 5.4 3.73 4x4 and I got 14.2 on the last fill up.
That was combined city/highway, letting it warm up 5 minutes in the morning(been cold) and used the 4x4(and snowy) for 40 miles or so.

 

My 04 screw 5.4L 3.73LS 4x4 has gotten as good as 19.1 on the highway at 65-70 around 2000 rpm. Sounds a little low. That was with the truck 100% stock. Will have a better idea this weekend on what to expect mileage wise with the 3" leveling kit installed last weekend and the 305/65/18 BFG AT that got installed today.

 

That's about right. I've got the same truck and I usually get around 12-13 mpg with mixed driving. You're in Rhode Island, correct? So, you probably have reformulated gas, 10-15% ETOH. That means you'll get less mpg than others on the board that live in parts of the country that don't require oxygenates.

I have a 2006 F150 Screw with the 5.4L, 4x4, 3.55LS. I took a trip to Virginia Beach and back last week. I averaged 15.6 mpg running 70 to 75 mph. Of course in Georgia I had some slower speeds do to the construction but not much.

Basically if we were looking for good gas mileage in my opinion we should have bought something else than the F150 4x4 Screw.

I love the truck but gas mileage sucks...

 

Is that a fact about the winter blend fuel? My Dad has told me they put additives in the winter fuel that causes a loss of MPG. My truck has sufferend a loss of 2MPG and I can't for the life of me figure it out. I never noticed a change in past winters, it's always remained pretty consistent.

 

Yes, you will lose fuel economy with the winter blends of gas. Also, this winter has been colder then the previous, so your load on the engine is greater which also robs f.e. sp maybe that's why you're noticing more this year. Sucks all round.

btw- on my 04, 5.4, 4x4, 3.73s I get 14-15 mpg. I have never seen 16+ as some of the other users have stated.

 

Sounds right to me...I get about 15-16 mpg doing 75% highway. Doing 100% highway, I get about 22 mpg (60-65 mph). Stop and go really makes a difference!

Sounds low to me. Both of mine are showing 13.2 on the digital readout, all city driving.

 

Ford FX4, I have the same setup, and get the same mileage as you do. Coming up to your neck of the woods this spring to chase some 'eyes, got any hot tips?

 

as stated above check the tire pressure, i just checked mine last weekend and all of the tires were down by at least 4psi. I dont know if it helped the mileage a ton but it had to have helped somehow.
