2007 F150 Towing Capacities

07' 4x4 Super Crew 6' bed 5.4l with Ford installed tow package. Before I get trailer brakes installed, will my truck pull a 26' travel trailer with brakes? It weighs 8500 pounds full of water. I'm pretty sure I can move it, but, stop it? Anyone have experiance pulling something so large with a F150?

That'd be a heck of a load to stop w/out trailer brakes.
The truck could tow it, but not the greatest....might want to consider a weight distribution hitch.

I've pulled a 7-7.5K lb camper w/ brakes and a weight distribution hitch, and it pulls, but I wish it weight a good 1K less.

MBBFord is right about a weight distributing hitch, and your trailer should have electric brakes controlled from a controller which would be installed in the cab.

If your truck has 3.55s, max conventional tow rating is 8,100#. With 3.73s, max is 9,100#. If your truck has either 18" or 20" wheels, deduct 500# from those numbers.

Enjoy your trailer!

if you have p235/75/17 tire get LT tire because ford wasn't smart when they put that tire with a trailer tow package. P-metric tire is 4 ply tire and cold psi of 35. LT tire is 10 ply and has cold psi and a load psi

Yeah the P235 tires if you have them are trash. They put better tires on minivans.

ford wasn't thinking when they did that !they put LT tires on the payload package and the XLT trim package ,but put p235 on trailer tow package where you need the LT tire

I have the stock 18'' BFG tires . They are bad for towing. But getting a decent tire in that size is hard. So I am leanng towards a 275/70R18 Load Range E tire thats used on the new 08 superduty.

I pull a 28' lite with my '06 F-150 SCrew, 4x2, 5.4L, 3.55LS, 5.5'box. I use a Prodigy brake controller and an Equal-I-Zer brand load dist./sway control hitch. I also added a set of Ride Rite air bags to help firm up the suspension. It's no race car with my 7500# (wet, over scale) trailer, but it handles it well (at least in the flat midwest). I do get some tire squirm from the P rated tires, but as soon as they are shot it's getting LT rated tires.

Don't skimp on the hitch or the brake controller....it's worth the few extra $$$ to make sure it's right.
