I am not a big fan of the "Mag Hytec" pans do to the o-ring system they use. You damage an o-ring on Saturday or Sunday you may be walking until you can locate a new one. Any of the pans that use a standard gasket, IMO are a much better choice. A stock gasket can be located at any corner auto parts store. I like the PML pans but there are other good ones as well.

I have my tranny in the shop being rebuilt, and will be installing a mag-hytech.There was one on the shelf and I'm getting a good deal on it. One of my mechanics friends was in there and claimed a 20 to 30 deg decrease after he installed his. I also installed a larger cooler-and it will have an upgraded shift kit, valvebody,
BD torque converter, bd torq-shift(?),and whatever bells and whistles we could think of. Parts cost alone for this rebuild was over $2700.00 We are trading labor. Now I know why it's $4000.00 for a "well built" tranny.

I have tried the cast aluminum B&M pan on my Bronco.
The cast aluminum is brittle and can break. As I found out one day while off roading in the desert. I was running a sand wash when a rock or something must have flown up and knocked a hole in it.
I am now using a steel pan from Derale. In fact I also put one on my Superduty. I think I only pad $75.00 from Summit Racing.

I have the M-H tranny pan along with both diff covers. I installed temp probes in all three and have them wired in to the tranny temp gage. I didn't have the gages before upgrading but I've never seen anything over 145*F on the tranny. Note that I have the 5R110 tranny. I do not tow yet but I have loaded the truck up with my Harley and a bunch of stuff on a summertime trip, still never got over 145. Unless I'm mistaken, you can do a direct swap with the '03 and up tranny cooler right in place of the smaller cooler. There was an article in 4WOR I think, a couple months back.

I've had a Mag-Hytec pan on my 01 since 01. On both my stock trans and BTS trans.

I know Brian from BTS doesn't like them if you tow heavy and a lot. But since I don't tow with that truck, he said to go ahead and put it back on since my truck is lifted and you can easily see it if you squat down. His reason for not liking them if yo tow was that the increased volume does take longer to heat up....but once you get it hot, your cooling system can only cool it so fast so it takes longer to cool it back down.

And as mentioned the 6.0 trans cooler is much larger than the 7.3 cooler (I run the 6.0 cooler now)......hell, even the V10 cooler is larger than the 7.3 cooler.
