Caliper question

Got an early start on the truck this morning. Doing the brake rotors, pads and shoes. I got the drivers side done with no problems. I got the passenger side apart and I found the caliper had some damage to it. It was covered in surface rust and the rubber sleeves that are around the pistons were falling apart. They kind of just fell off when I touched them. Do I need these? Time for a new caliper? Its funny too. The drivers side it the orginal and the one falling apart is an autozone replacement, maybe 2-3 years old.

Yes replace it. chances are that rust and brittle rubber are from the caliper sticking some and building up lots of heat. The rust and rubber are classic signs of over heating.

Now I get to bleed the brakes. When I open the front do I need to bleed the rear lines as well?

No need to bleed the rears unless you run the master cylinder dry of brake fluid. To help with that lightly clamp the brake hose with a pair of vise grips while your changing the caliper and when you bleed the brakes keep it full.
