Electronic Flasher Unit (turn signal) for '98 F-150
I have replaced my turn signal switch/high-low beam/flash to pass/emergency flashers/washer-wiper unit as it had worn out and headlights no longer worked. While getting the unit out, I noted a wire which had been harnessed in too tightly at the factory and which had come loose due to use of the tilt steering. I then obtained a new pigtail/harness from Ford and spliced this into the existing wiring. Everything works fine, but now there are no turn signals or emergency flashers. My Haynes manual states that the electronic flasher unit which is mounted to the right of the steering column uner the instrument panel is the likely suspect now that all other avenues (switch, wiring, bulbs and fuses) have been eliminated. My question is this: has anyone else had to replace this flasher unit and if so, how difficult a job is it and how would you recommend it be done now that you've had the experience? Any input appreciated. This board is still the #1 spot for Ford truck information that I've ever found.
Thanks all!
Thanks all!
