T-State installation gone bad

Well, while I was during my coolant flush I decided to change the thermostate aswell. No problems until one of the bolts that holds the housing together snapped off. Tried several times to weld another nut on top of the existing bolt but had no success, it would just break the weld. Whats the best way to get this bolt out?

Use a "left hand twist" drill bit and drill out the bolt as you would to use an EZ-out. Generally the left hand bit will back the bolt out without drilling very far.

So I presume the drilling takes off the pressure.. I was thinking an EZ-out might do it. Hopefully.

I had that happen on my 95. the back bolt. I just drilled a new hole and retapped. hole was off center and not straight up and down but it worked. half the old bolt was still in the WP but it worked

Yeah, I have a feeling I'll be heading down the same path TJ. Sounds like I'm gonna spend the rest of the night looking for my Tap & Dye set I have. Lol.

I agree PB blaster soak it let it set and work its way into threads. Then get a pointed punch and smack it in the center to break loose the corrosion between the bolt and housing. Before assembly two words ANTI-SEIZE....

Pray tell where does one find a left hand twist drill (I tried the shop where they sell steam by the bucket) I have been willing to purchase a set of these little dudes but all I get are blank stares.
