Brake Lights

The brake lights do not come on when the brake peddle is pressed although the running lights come on when the lights are turned on. However the brake light on the back windshield works. I have a 2000 Explorer XLT.

the brake filament is also used for the turn signals. check if they work. if not, maybe the bulbs are bad. if turns work, check fuse for brake lights in the black box on drivers fender well under hood.
