Pix of 08 20's on 05 X

Well, today was a rainy day which meant the leaves can wait another day!!!

So... I just HAD to see how the new OEM SD 20's would look. So... How do they look? A big thanks to "high1" (Mike) for the inspiration!!!

Like I said in previous posts, all 4 of my 16 inchers are "fused" to the hubs and I'd hate to get stranded with a flat... So as long as I was "PB Blasting" to get the 16's off (to apply a film of anti-seize) I thought I would test fit the 20's. Winters here in upstate NY are harsh (salty) and I'll put the 20's back on this spring.

I've been thinking... Will I need to get a spare tire that matches the diameter of the 20's tires?... You can see that they are a larger diameter.

TILT!!!!

(I like the closed cap... the 08 cap has a larger opening than the 05's lock-outs)

I wouldn't worry about getting a matching spare. hell I think the Suburbans that have 20's from the factory don't have a matching spare, the rim on the spare is smaller. I wonder what size the spare is on the Super Duties that have 20's from the factory, maybe you could get one from them. The only problem about a 20" spare is where would you put it, I don't think it would fit in the back where the spare is now it would probably be to big, but then again I could be wrong maybe it would fit. Your Excursion looks great with those rims, good job.

Where are you in upstate NY? I live in the Oswego area and I have seen a rig similar to yours. Is that you?

brings up a question...

I have 35s but only a stock spare. When I get a flat, I know that I must put the spare on the front only to keep the rear together. I understand that the tires can be a little different, but how much is the limit?

Recently purchased a G6 Hardtop Conv and it has the donut spare that is about 4-5 inches smaller than the stockers. Would that create a problem on the front (front wheel drive) or not?

Is this OK due to difference in FWD and RWD? This is the first car in 9 years without a matching spare.

Its ok to put a diff size tire on ur RWD ex as a open diff in the rear end. If u have a locker or a LS diff then id keep it to the same size

They (NYC'ers) call everything north of them upstate... really we are in the Southern Tier. Near Binghamton. Too much snow off the lake in your town!! Got snow yet?
