2006 F-250 6-disc CD changer Radio
Does a 2006 F-250 6-disc changer radio have a separate box to put the 6 CD's in or do you put the 6 CD's in the head unit? I've seen several of these on ebay and was wanting a CD changer for my 2006 F-250 XL that came with am/fm only. Does this system require a Ford amplifier to work?
What about the single CD Ford system, does it require the ford amplifier?
Thanks.

All 6 cds go into the head unit. I don't have the 6 disc, but have a couple of friends that do, so I can't tell you much more about it.
I bought a single disc off of ebay for my XL, and it didn't require an additional amp. It was a very easy install. My 14 year old son and I swapped out the factory AM-FM for the AM-FM/CD in twenty minutes, prob'ly could do it quicker next time. Just pull the dash loose, take out the 4 screws holding the head unit, unplug the wiring harness and reverse the process for the new one.

I did exactly what you want to do...got a 6 disc factory unit VIA ebay and swapped it out for my single disc olayer. Worked great. I think the 6 disc was from an '04 and it went into my 05 like it was mad for it. Then put my sigle disc for sale on ebay and got more for it than what I paid for the 6 disk. Go figure!!
