vintage torq thrust wheels can we get them?
I am looking for a set of cragars, keystones, fenton, radir, american racing 200s, torq thrust wheels. But all I can find is new ones that are too expensive for me. Plus I want something out of the sixties anyway. The closest they come in is 5 x 5 bolt pattern. does anyone have a set for our trucks or know of a wheel adaptor so i can use another bolt pattern? Or if that even works? I am looking for 15 x 7 or 8 at the most. PM me if you have a set.

I am running an older set of Cragar 5 spokes, they are peeling in spots and a bit salt pited but I love them. I also have a set of 5 hole slotted mags so I can swap back and forth.
I'd love to have a set of Torque thrusts but like you I get sticker shock when I see the price tag for them. Your best bet it is to scrounge swap meets, ebay, and craigslist. I don't know if they ever made them in a 5 on 5 1/2 or not.
When I was a teenager I had a 67 Dodge Charger, I had 5 hole mags on the passenger side and torque thrusts on the drivers side as I only had 2 of each style wheel, and what the heck, you can only see one side of the car at a time.
Good luck on your search

A few years back himmelberg managed to put together two pair of Ansen made five spokes that are painted a platinum color rather than the darker gray of American's Torq-thrust D's. Center caps were not screwed on these beauties, they were mounted from behind. I don't have any center caps so I don't have all the details there.
These mags are virtually identical to the non-peaked Americans except for the center caps. Someone somewhere called them Ansen Apollos. One might find a picture of them in old Hot Rod magazines sold along side Ansen slots... or E.T.s. What's in a name anyhow.
According to my sources, Ansen sold the wheel part of their operations to American after all was said and done. The only real problem with mine is that they are 14" wheels, albeit 5 by 5.5" bp.
I paid 75 bucks for each pair, purchased on e-bay about 9 months apart from different sellers in different parts of the country. I'm a pretty lucky guy in this respect. I'd hate to have to replace them now.
Ansened at all four corners, himmelberg

Search EBAY for "5 on 5.5" and 5 on 5-1/2" and you will find wheels. You have to use the quotations and tell it to search titles and descriptions.
I just put brand new American Torq Thrust D's on my '57 (15x7 front and rear) and they ran $620 including shipping, valve stems and lug nuts. Mine has a Mustang II front end with big brake kit and redrilled drums and axles out back. I think Americans are available in 5 on 5.5 bolt circle but plan on spending close to $700 for 4 of them.

i've been looking for a set of chrome reverses myself , and not those smoothie rims they sell now . tried e-pay and everyting else . they didnt even need to be perfect as bessie has a "patina" to use on overused word , my buddy norm just here not to long ago bought a real cherry 62 galaxie 500 two door hardtop with a six in it that the seller said there were two sets of mag wheels in the trunk for the car . when we unloaded it off the trailer { no brakes } he popped the trunk and low and behold a set of torq thrusts , 14 inch and a set of radirs , dirty as heck and a lil surface rust , but complete in 15 inch . the car had been the guys dads and he had bought it new and it was supposed to be a 352 . he had replaced it with the six . anyway dad bought the rims in the day and junior dimounted the radirs as he thought they were goofy . norm paid 400 for the car , and no he wont part with the rims . the torq thrusts ende up on his 68 390 4 speed stang and he's gonna use the radirs on an ol 50 buick hes got . why cant i be that lucky ?
