I'm looking for a set of wheels for my "72 F-100 2WD Long bed. I want the "classic mag" look. The American Racing Torq thrust was my first choice but (I've been told by wheel vendors) they won't fit because of the front wheel center hole size. They have a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern but still no fit. My next choice would be Cragar S/S. Anybody out there have any good ideas for an old-style mag wheel that will fit my truck?
Yeah, I'm in the market for my F250. I'd really like to get the M/T Challenger wheel, but they stopped making it a couple years ago. I think they kinda look like a modern version of the factory oval slotted mag wheel.
There are so many sites out there for wheels it makes my head spin. I'd just try doing a search and see what you like.
Yeah tell me about it. I spent over two years finding a nice old set of 16.5" 8-lug slot mags, 8 1/4" fronts and 9 3/4" rears. Now you can't find tires anymore, oh well...
I am sure of the year but i found a set of ford factory alum slots 15x7.5 with the ford center cap I think they came on broncos late 70 early 80 at a swap meet they were dull and pitted started 100 grit on a da and worked my way up 220 320 400 600 then polished them they look good for now with 225 70's on them had a problem with the weights on the drums in the front they would not sit flat but now i have 79 disks on it and every thing is fine the only thing is the rears look a little lost in the wheel well would like to find a set of 15x8 and 10 slots for it ?????
BB thats the kind of wheel I was looking for but I didn't even know they made them with eight lugs, any how I was thinking of going with the black painted nascar type wheel. sorryh not tryin to jack the post.
Fordbeast..did you look at my 20 year old turbines on my truck..they'll be going up FS..as soon as I can afford to get my 17" wheels and 305s for the rear! Russ
I hear you Russ, still riding on the bias ply and split rings which makes the truck a handfull in town, I figure when I put radials on it it will handle a lot better.
No big hurry I got lots of tread left for the summer time.
Oh ya it will be a while yet... Just my back tires are $170 each...the back wheels $160 each...front tires $160 each..front wheels $140 each.. = $1260.00 -tax..
