Gas Guzzler tax
Just curious who got hit with a gas guzzler tax, is it something listed on the invoice or something added when talking numbers with the dealer.
Thinking of getting a new F150 and curious as to what I need to factor into this.
I have an F250 now, but didn't pay a gas guzzler tax that I know of.

Gas Guzzler tax only applies to cars, not trucks.

From how I read the EPA.gov site only SD and Excursions with that GVWR or above are excluded.
Tax is collected by the IRS from the maker then passed on to the buyer so that should rule out variations between States. I wonder if the guys that didnt get taxed purchased a 4.6L or 5.4L I'm thinking the 4.6L mpg just might be good enough to avoid the tax.
Isnt this a double tax since, as others have mentioned, we are taxed on every tank of gas we buy
Time for a tea party is approaching

I look at it this way...
I am at my job and earn a salary - which is taxed. So I jump in my truck (which I pay property tax and sales tax on) and head home. I stop to get some groceries which are taxed, and gas which is taxed, too. I get home (property tax again) and open my bills...gas, water, sewer, phone, etc...all taxed. If all that is not enough, April 15th comes around I have to jump in my taxed truck and burn taxed gas to go down to the accountant and pay him part of my taxed earnings to figure up how much taxes I STILL have to pay the government!!
I figure EASILY over 50% of my earnings wind up in government hands one way or the other....and all for what??

Here in Kansas, if you want to eat, you better plan on tacking on 7.3% for our rich uncle. That is the same for fast food, restaurants, or just walking into the store to buy staples like flour, eggs, potatoes, etc.
