Throwout Bearing Question
I just bought me a 1999 F150 4wd , 4spd w/OD .... and the throwout bearing makes a noise , can i remove the dust cover and grease it , i aint got the truck home yet so i cant look , my dad says he knows on some of them you can remove the dust cover and fix it. So can i remove it on this tranny and grease it ? or have i got to drop the trans ? If i have to drop the trans , im gonna go ahead and put a new clutch and pressure plate in it , while im in there....
Thanks for the help

My 150's have all been automatics but on Rangers and Bronco II's I have replaced clutches and changed the bearing without replacing the slave cylinder but on two occasions had to go back, pull the transmission again and replace the slave cylinder. It's a real kicker for it to start leaking fluid shortly after having it all torn apart. Learned MY lesson there! I suppose the increased clutch spring pressure on the heavy duty parts was more than the old slave could handle. It's a whole lot less painful doing it once instead of twice!!

yeah i had to pull mine to...and i redid all the bearings in my transmission...one was even sized to the shaft so i had to buy a input(i think it was the input) new shaft and gear.
also while you are replacing your pressure plate and clutch pads....might as well get your flywheel done...i took mine to the same place i bought my pressure plate and they milled it down smooth free of charge.
