Electrical module at the base of the rear view mirror?

Electrical module at the base of the rear view mirror?
I hard wired my radar detector tonight and noticed an electronic module at the base of the rear view mirror at the point it attaches to the windshield. I am assumed it is the AM/FM radio antenna. Is this correct or is it something else?

Stang....that was funny! 
But you should've said the tall wirey looking thing on fender. Sometimes the obvious is not so obvious. Justtranchin, sorry, but stangs reply was funny...not laughing at you bud. For awhile, until I got my 08 250, i thought the thing above the rear view mirror was the satellite antenna, but only to see it plain as day on the roof and realized it was the compass. Ok, all can start laughing now...
