Red face 54 F100

IFS question. 54 F 100, I got the right crossmember and the direction say to measure back from the front spring shackle hole . The picture shows it from the center of the big hole in the frame which nothing was in.
I looked on the IFS installation article and it also says from the front shackle hole. Has anyone installed a Heidts crossmember lately that remembers where they measured from. It would only be about a 1/2" difference and I don't think you could tell. Just like to know before we weld.
Thanks

Yes. You can either buy "center forward" springs for the stock front, or weld your IFS 1-2 inches more forward.

one other option...

you want your front axle c/l 1-1/2" forward of stock.... stock wheelbase is 110".

when I removed the volare clip and installed the MII the reference point had been destroyed by the volare clip install... so just for reference I pulled the distance from the rear axle c/l.. ( It takes two people to do this accurately... and you want it accurate)

I just pulled 111-1/2" from the rear axle snubber mount to the front and scribed the frame rail... same on the other side, then checked the diagonals to make sure they were the same... with a little reference measuring...say from the cab mount rivets and front frame rail ends and such you can assure that you're square in the frame and the right distance from the rear end... it'll be spot on...

hope it helps and here's a reference on '53 measurement specs..

'53 frame specs

Smile 54 F100

Thank you all. We had considered the 111 1/2" wheel base measurement.

thanks again
