Crown vic IFS install
Any tips, measurements and/or pics would be great!!!! Thanks in advance, Jason
I've just done this so here is some info
Keep all of your front sheet metal together so that you can place it back on to make sure you like the look of where you place your new IFS. ( I took mine apart it worked out but no need to create extra work) I moved mine forward 1 1/2''
As everything make sure your frame is high enough and level so you can move the ifs around. An engine hoist is your friend
Mark the center of your current front end I used the axles and a plumb bob then scribed my frame.
You will have to place a piece of 3/8''-1/2'' steel under your frame where the IFS will sit. If you can't weld then make it longer so you can bolt that piece directly to the frame. You will have to build up the top of the frame with a tappered piece same width as the frame from 1/2'' -3/4'' front to back you'll see once you set it down. I used the front of the frame as my measuring points
If you use an engine that came with that car ( 4.6 and 5.4?)it should be easier no messing around with engine mounts. I have 351W with AOD. I had to Fab stuff
Get as much of the steering components as you can that became a headache for me trying to get something to work between different years.
Your rim selection might be limited as well how low you intend on dropping the truck. There are alot of Stang options out there.
feel free to PM me with your questions, My truck is currently being hauled across the country but I will see it in a few weeks.
check out my albums as well as Fatfendered he gave me an email detailing what he did I'll try to forward it to you
Good Luck and keep us posted
