Unhappy 54 F100

Got my boxing plates tack in and set the crossmember in place and found out the boxing plates have to be on the outside lip of the frame. The article nor the instruction tell you that and it just seems to me the plates inside the frame would be a lot stronger. Oh well ground them out and put them on the outside and crossmember fits just fine

Thats kind of a bummer.

I made my own boxing plates for my 49 and like you I set them inside the frame approx. 3/8". It sure made welding them in alot easier.

I'm glad you caught it before fully welding them in place.
