83 F-150 Wipers

Any advice on how to access the mechanism for the wipers on an 83 F-150? I get one wipe each time I turn the wipers on and then it sticks. I assume that that there is some trouble in that assembly.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have intermittent wipers?

Or do you have standard wipers?

On trucks with intermittent wipers turn the **** to the left for intermittent settings. This will slow the wipes to about one wipe every 20 seconds or 30 seconds or so, with the **** turned all the way to the left. Off is in the middle. Normal wiping action slow speed one click to right, fast two clicks to right.

On trucks with standard wipers you will only be able to click the switch to the right. Slow, one click, Fast two clicks.

I had that problem on a 58 Chevrolet one time. Turned out the guy I bought it from had had the wiper arms off and had put them back on in the wrong position and the motor was not able to cycle all the way around. Probably not the same thing but try it with the wiper arms removed.

To access the mechanism, lift the hood, and take all the screws out of the cowl panel. Take the wiper arms off and wiggle the cowl panel out from under the windshield.
