Got a funny flapping sound coming from the engine. Its really odd...like a clicking whenever I accelerate. Almost sounds like a baseball card stuck in the spokes of a bycicle...only lest "flipppp" and more click. Seems to come from just forward of the firewall slightly on the drivers side. What on earth could it be?

Check it for exhaust leaks. Mine was doing that when cold and would quit after being warmed up, turned out to be the donut gasket between the manifold and the pipe.
Fire it up cold and run your hand around the exhaust manifold and pipe, you'll be able to feel the warm exhuast rushing out if it's a leak. If you do it hot, sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a leak after your fingers become singed

Man, you're pretty good. It is an exhaust leak.

Unfortunately, it isn't a gasket. Big big big crack in my driver's side exhaust manifold. It froze for the first time in like 3 years in Houston last night. Betcha a dollar thats what did it.

Oh well. Its an excuse to get headers, right? Anyone got any suggestions on what I should replace it with? Im a student, so I gotta keep costs in mind.

Thanks for the good diagnosis!

Summit Racing sells a set of bolt-in headers. They are just painted, but are inexpensive too. I think about $169 for the set.

Just curious, whats the difference between shorty headers and regular ones? Can i run headers off of a mustang? And I need 5.0 ford headers to go into a y-pipe right? Anyone have preference by brand or anything? if im gonna swap 'em out, dont wanna put crap in hehe

Wall Thank you, Thank you very much.

It's kind of a pain, but your old can probably be welded up.
